Merry Christmas

Another year and my babies are bigger than ever! They are the sweetest!!!
Six months ago life got insanely crazy. It all started with us moving. Uuggghhh! Then I started nursing school, something I had waited 3 years in the lottery for. Most days I'm not sure which direction I should be running in because there is so much that has to be done and so many places to go. Then the day I started school my lovely mom-in-law went into the hospital and is very ill. It's been really rough on us to have to continue on with life and all of our commitments. We would rather just spend all our time making precious memories for us and our children with her.

All of this craziness of the last six months has really made me appreciate the time off I have to spend at home without any outside distractions. So far I have been filling my days with family....baking, playing with the kids, napping, watching Christmas specials, and just being lazy.

Because of where life has taken us lately, I feel more grateful for the simpler things in life; the things that are easy to overlook and forget about. I am so blessed to be married to a wonderful man who has stepped up to taking care of all the responsibilities around our home while I have been buried in my nursing studies; I am so grateful for our new home and all the conveniences the move had blessed us with; I am so happy that Aubrey has adjusted well to her new preschool and has been having a wonderful time with her new friends; I am so grateful for my silly little guy who makes me laugh everyday with his funny nature.

Although I am being pulled in many directions these days, my focus for this next year is spending time and making deeper connections with the people that matter the most to me. I believe that one of the best ways we can show someone how much we love them is by spending time with them. TIME. Not just being there but really being engaged. It's such a simple thing, but it can mean so much.

Since I have started my nursing program I have come to realize how amazing a life is. It's incredible how God created our bodies to work and all our systems to compensate for one another. One of my favorite things in my clinical rotations has been spending extra time with the patients I have had the opportunity to care for. There are many people I have come across that have really touched me with the stories of their life. I was there to help take care of their needs, but it turns out that they changed something in me.

Although this time in our life is proving a challenge to balance, I know it's where I am meant to be. I am learning and being reminded all the time of what REALLY matters in this life. And it all comes full circle with spending time with the ones we love the most.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas that is centered on Christ!

I don't think that sounds "lazy" at all! Hanging around with the kids not actually doing anything FEELS unproductive, but I strongly believe that it's what they'll remember. Not being too busy, not being distracted, just BEING. It's really all they want.

(Okay, all they want besides another drink after they've been sent to bed for the 27th time.)

Have a very merry Christmas!!
