Am I alone here? Or are any of you as nosy as me?!
My nosy habits have led me to some very inspiring posts. Specifically home decor related. My fav!
So I decided that I needed to start sprucing our place up a little bit. I simply refer to it as "spring decorating" for the sake of trying to avoid my husband's "quit painting...we're losing square footage!" kind of comments. (I did not make that up either.)
So here's a glimpse of what I have been up to and who inspired me.
First, a magnetic chalkboard on a very lonely kitchen wall inspired by this super crafty woman.
A can of each of these.....
A can of each of these.....
Adorned with some cool magnets Aubrey and I made.....
And wah-la....
Not too shabby, eh?.
OK, Tina. This one's for you.
Next, I moved onto the task of revamping my pathetic attempt of a family picture collage. Pictures do not lie!
I almost don't even want to share it!
I just could not figure out where to go with it from here to achieve a cohesive, effortless looking collage. That is until I saw this baby!
So I headed to my stash of picture frames shoved in and under various parts of our house and pulled out most of what I had that was black. And then I hit Wal-Mart for a few more inexpensive, large frames to complete the collection.
I decided to go with B&W pics with matte's for the large frames and color pics with no matte's for the smaller frames.
After working out the arrangement on the floor, all I had left to do was get it up on the wall.
That was it, so I thought!
Until I started pounding nails into the wall.
In all the wrong places, of course.
Which left us with a wall that looks like Swiss cheese!
And this beauty of a collage.....
I LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. IT!
Of course I can't stop now
So I decided to scratch the itch I've had to do something with the be-u-t-ful yard of fabric I scored at Jo-Ann's for 40% off a couple weeks ago.
The kitchen window was just begging for a little attention.....
Don't ya think?
I happened to stumble across a super easy treatment idea here from another super crafty decorating genius woman. (That I don't even know.)
So I grabbed my fabric,
along with this.....
to do a quick little hem up the edges.
(Don't be so shocked that I have a sewing machine and can actually sew a straight line with it!)
And this guy.....
To attach the fuzzy little pom-pom's that Aubrey picked out.
And then of course I needed these thingies to hang the new addition.....
Because the curtain rod that use to hang over the kitchen window sink was attacked by a pipe cutter during this little window treatment redo.....
(Yes. That is a pile of laundry waiting to be folded.
Priorities people!)
Here's how it turned out.....
Ta-da!
Thank you to all my blogger friends that I know and those that I don't know for sharing a bit of your creative decorating skills with the world. It inspires uncreative and nosy people like me to do a little, shall we say, "spring decorating" of our own.
