Christmas has come and gone.......

....and what a crazy month it turned out to be. Besides the usual hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations we also had a bout of the flu in our house and then spent an entire afternoon and evening in Children's ER tending to a dislocated elbow for Aubrey. My poor baby! Even though we were a little behind schedule with our holiday to-do's around the house, we did manage to accomplish decking the halls inside and out. And thank goodness for the Internet because I don't know how I would have gotten all the shopping done without it! Reflecting back on the last few weeks truly does bring a smile to my face. This year was extra special to us because Aubrey is at an age that she could start to understand Christmas and what it means. So we decided to start some traditions of our own to carry through the years. We did a lot of baking and then delivered the goodies, we wrote Santa a letter, we read Christmas stories at night,

We walked down Christmas Tree Lane..... (Thank You Chris and Melissa for all your hospitality and opening your home up to your friends and family so that we can create wonderful memories spending an evening on Christmas Tree Lane!)

Did not know this is how it all started.....

Of course we had to make a stop to kiss the reindeer.....

We made dough ornaments to decorate the tree with.....

We baked cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve and then read a special Christmas story.....
(Obviously Santa had already come and gone by the time I got around to taking a pic!)

Jake's first Christmas morning..... (Look at the roll on that neck!)

And then the amazement of Christmas morning for Aubrey was sooooo special!
The look in her eyes and just the pure joy of it all to her was almost indescribable. Santa brought Aubrey a Little Mermaid talking vanity. She was totally uninterested in opening any other presents once she set her eyes on it. We had to beg her to open the rest of her gifts, the same ones we could not keep her out of a few days leading up to Christmas! And after each gift she opened we would loose her to the vanity again.
Santa scored big time!
Mom and Dad.....not so much!

We enjoyed having Christmas at our home. Jeff and I decided to step it up a notch for dinner this year. We broke out the china and the nice silverware, candles and wine. Along with the usual ham we decided to add a prime rib to the menu. Only a few of us ate it because it was overcooked. Oops! As if that was not bad enough, I also forgot to thaw the dough for the dinner rolls and let them rise. Although dinner was not as good as we had hoped and planned, we did get to enjoy the company of our family, who gave us a hard time about it!
We gave ourselves an 'A' for effort....Tis' the season!
